Patricia Lewis is one of South Africa’s most successful female recording artists, widely recognized as the “First Lady of Afrikaans Pop.” She has sold over one million albums, earned multiple gold and platinum certifications, and collaborated with international and local stars, including David Hasselhoff, Kurt Darren, Jim Reeves, and Jurie Els. Her 1997 single “Wie Sou Jou Kon Liefhê Soos Ek” reached gold status on release day, marking a rare achievement in South African pop music.
Lewis began her career in the early 1990s with the single “Come on and Shout” and her debut album "Don’t Tempt Me" (1992), blending Afrikaans and English pop. Her breakthrough came with "Ek Is Lief Vir Jou" (1997), which sold over 125,000 copies and produced enduring hits like “The First Kiss Goodnight”, “Single Girl”, and “Jy Is My Liefling”.
Beyond music, Lewis shaped South African television as creator and producer of Supersterre, a talent show that discovered and mentored emerging artists. She also hosted Blonde Ambisie and appeared on programs including Celebrity MasterChef South Africa. Over her career, she has performed more than 2,500 live shows internationally.
After over a decade hiatus, Lewis returned in 2021 with the comeback single “Hello Hello, Ek Het Jou Gemis”, which topped radio charts in South Africa and Namibia. In 2024, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Afri-Indie Music Awards, reflecting her enduring influence.
